This is going to be very interesting. I’m really excited, according to Pitchfork.com, Coachella attendees will get to see an exclusive electronic-tinged Antony Hegerty performance, he will join forces with the composer/beat guru Matthew Herbert at the Coachella Music Festival in California on April 19.

Antony Hegarty is an English-Irish singer-songwriter, lead singer of the band Antony and the Johnsons, and Matthew Herbert (also known by Doctor Rockit, Radio Boy, Mr. Vertigo, Transformer, and Wishmountain) is an influential and critically acclaimed British electronic musician. Together they will put in a great performance, which should not be missed if you are in the Polo Fields on Sunday, April 19.
They are likely to perform in the early Sunday evening, or perhaps conflicting times with The Cure. I have already seem The Cure when they performed in 2004 at Coachella, so this time I will not miss Hegarty & Herbert, it’s going to be epic.
Antony and the Johnsons is formed by Antony Hegarty (lead vocals), Julia Kent (first chair cello), Parker Kindred (drummer), Jeff Langston (bassist), Doug Wieselman (horns), Maxim Moston (violin, arrangement) and Rob Moose (guitar, violin), they are a Mercury Prize-winning music act from New York City, in January of 2009 they released their third album “The Crying Light”, Antony has described the theme of the album as being “about landscape and the future” (what? LOL).
Here’s a popular video from Antony and the Johnsons, “You Are My Sister”:
Matthew Herbert’s current album “There’s Me and There’s You” was recorded as the Matthew Herbert Big Band. He also has written an 80-piece orchestral score for a french film musical released last December, called “Agather Clery”, the film is directed by Etienne Chatilliez. Matthew Herbert has an extensive list of colaborations with several superstars like Bjork, Thom Yorke, Moloko, R.E.M., Perry Farrell, Serge Gainsbourg, Yoko Ono, John Cale, The Avalanches and Cornelius.
Here’s Matthew Herbert Big Band & Dani Siciliano playing The Audience (now, only imagine he playing with Antony Hegarty,…. yep, don’t miss it!)
