This is going to be very interesting. I’m really excited, according to Pitchfork.com, Coachella attendees will get to see an exclusive electronic-tinged Antony Hegerty performance, he will join forces with the composer/beat guru Matthew Herbert at the Coachella Music Festival in California on April 19.

Antony Hegarty is an English-Irish singer-songwriter, lead singer of the band Antony and the Johnsons, and Matthew Herbert (also known by Doctor Rockit, Radio Boy, Mr. Vertigo, Transformer, and Wishmountain) is an influential and critically acclaimed British electronic musician. Together they will put in a great performance, which should not be missed if you are in the Polo Fields on Sunday, April 19.
They are likely to perform in the early Sunday evening, or perhaps conflicting times with The Cure. I have already seem The Cure when they performed in 2004 at Coachella, so this time I will not miss Hegarty & Herbert, it’s going to be epic.
Antony and the Johnsons is formed by Antony Hegarty (lead vocals), Julia Kent (first chair cello), Parker Kindred (drummer), Jeff Langston (bassist), Doug Wieselman (horns), Maxim Moston (violin, arrangement) and Rob Moose (guitar, violin), they are a Mercury Prize-winning music act from New York City, in January of 2009 they released their third album “The Crying Light”, Antony has described the theme of the album as being “about landscape and the future” (what? LOL).
Here’s a popular video from Antony and the Johnsons, “You Are My Sister”:
Matthew Herbert’s current album “There’s Me and There’s You” was recorded as the Matthew Herbert Big Band. He also has written an 80-piece orchestral score for a french film musical released last December, called “Agather Clery”, the film is directed by Etienne Chatilliez. Matthew Herbert has an extensive list of colaborations with several superstars like Bjork, Thom Yorke, Moloko, R.E.M., Perry Farrell, Serge Gainsbourg, Yoko Ono, John Cale, The Avalanches and Cornelius.
Here’s Matthew Herbert Big Band & Dani Siciliano playing The Audience (now, only imagine he playing with Antony Hegarty,…. yep, don’t miss it!)
Finally confirmed, the Chemical Brothers will perform at Coachella this year, I’m so excited! Goldenvoice also announced Devendra Banhart, The Orb, Etienne De Crecy, Murder City Devils, and Busy P, all new additions to the line-up of this year’s Coachella Music Festival.

The Chemical Brothers are performing a DJ set which means they’ll only be playing from the turntables, no instruments, anyway it’s going to be awesome.
Tickets for Coachella have not sold out. I’m sure the economic situation has influenced the tickets sale, but as the festival is approaching, and with the new additions, sales should increase and at least single day tickets for Friday / Saturday should sell out.
Single day tickets cost $99 + $4 in fees, I think it’s really a bargain, on Friday you could watch Paul McCartney + other 41 different bands for only $103? Let’s say you get to watch at least 5 bands (which is nothing, I see at least 10-12 every year), each band costs $20, and there are no premium seats, if you are patient enough you can watch the last member of The Beatles alive playing, in the first row (hehe, not very comfortable, anyway YES YOU CAN!)
All 3 days tickets cost $269 + $3 charity + $9 facility fee.
New Additions Per Day:
Saturday: The Chemical Brothers
Sunday: The Orb, Etienne De Crecy, Devendra Banhart, Murder City Devils, Busy P and Plump DJs
Chris Goodman, Winehouse’s spokesman, revealed today that the singer will not be able to attend the 2009 Coachella music festival, he said: “She is not appearing at Coachella this year in the light of current legal issues.”.
Last week, Amy Winehouse was charged with assault for allegedly attacking a fan at a party in London, back in September. It clearly made difficult for the singer to get the US Visa to come perform at Coachella. This is not the first time Winehouse has to cancel performances in the US due to problems with VISA, last year she could not attend the Grammy Awards because her VISA was not approved in time.
She is also schedule to perform at the Island Records’ 50th anniversary concert, at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on May 31.
Amy Winehouse leaves another blank spot at the Coachella’s 2009 Lineup, when are the new additions coming? Soon, we’re about 38 days from the festival, and some of the rumors are: Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Etienne de Crécy, Depeche Mode, and MGMT. Stay tuned!

Checkout this promotional video for the Coachella 2009 Music Concert. Turn up your speakers!!!!!!! Listen to the background music, yes, yes, yes, it’s Chemical Brothers, they are not in the lineup yet , but I’m getting very excited about them being a late addition, super hot, it’s going to be awesome!!!
Yes, you read that right, Michael Jackson. He is back and announced 10 concerts for this Summer in London. The singer described it as the “final curtain call”, today in a news conference at the O2 Arena in London.
Michael Jackson has not performed live in the last 12 years and he made clear on the announcement that these would be his final shows, tickets will sell out very quickly as thousands of fans around the world will rush to see the concerts. Tickets for the shows will cost around £50 and they will go on sale March, 13, fans have a chance to pre-register at MichaelJacksonLive.com to purchase tickets.
As usual Michael arrived 90 minutes late for the announcement, and answered no questions, he made the “special announcement” in about three minutes.
The O2 Arena in London seats 20,000 people, and it has a reputation for staging “must-see” concerts, last year it hosted the one-and-only Led Zeppelin’s concert in recent years, also Britney Spears, Prince and many others have performed there.
Rumors about Michael’s financial problems continue, and maybe the concerts are an opportunity for Michael to make some money. Last year he sold the Luxurious Neverland Ranch in California, and everything from the ranch is being auctioned, including the ranch’s gate.
Michael Jackson’s last album was “Invincible” recorded in 2001.

The 10Th annual Coachella Music Festival starts in April 17Th, and goes on for 3 awesome days of music experience!!!!
The lineup has already been announced but there is expectation that late additions will be announced. Almost every year some hot late addition joins the festival, in 2008 the surprise was “Prince”, and a few years ago they had “Madonna”, also announced in the last minute.
Some of the headliners for 2009 are: Paul McCartney, The Cure and The Killers.
The Coachella Music Festival is organized by Goldenvoice and held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California, it brings around 60,000 people on each day of the festival to enjoy over 110 bands during the 3 very hot days in the desert of California. Coachella offers many genres of music including alternative rock, hip hop, indie music and Electronic music, as well as large sculptural art.
Here’s the official poster for the 2009 lineup (updated 02/20/09), this poster and a lot more information about the festival can be found at www.Coachella.com. If you have a few minutes to spare check out the Official Message Board (www.coachella.com/forum), they talk about everything, past experiences, late additions, dos and dont’s, anyway it’s worth a visit if you are planning to attend the festival.
